How To Choose a Tablet PC

The Tablet PC is a blend of a PDA and a notebook. It is ideal for individuals who are looking for the mobility of a notebook and capabilities of the PDA. It also does not come cheap so you must be ready with a little more cash to be able to afford it. Tablet PCs come in three types. One is the Convertible tablet PC
that looks a lot like a notebook or laptop but is different in a way that it can be rotated or folded. The other type is the Slate tablet PC which is basically just a display screen. Both types utilize specific versions of Windows designed to navigate, and make use of a stylus instead of a keyboard The Hybrid tablet PC is a combination of the two other types and comes with a keyboard that is detachable and functions just like a convertible when attached. The hybrid model is not as readily available as its two counterparts at the moment. There are only very few manufacturers who produce this type of tablet PC.
In spite of its size, the tablet PC has a high memory and is capable of storing just about anything at all. Here are a few things to look for if you are interested in getting one for yourself:
Consider the screen size. The size of this type of PC ranges from 5 inches to about 9 inches, which is at the high end of the scale. The smaller sized screens are the most convenient types to carry around, whether in your purse or on the pocket of your coat. Although it can be placed in your pocket, you run the risk of a broken device if you accidentally sat on it. If you opt for the 7 inch screen, you may not really be able to carry it in your pocket but it could fit in your purse. This also requires a headset. The 9 inch type is basically like a small laptop. A headset is definitely required and you will also need to have a custom made bag to carry it on. You can get the most out of this larger screen when it comes to rendering Web pages and multimedia much better. Even if the smaller types are portable, the larger ones are more useful ultimately and quite worth the trouble of carrying around.
  • The battery life of the tablet may be from around 2 to 10 hours according to different factors. This device does eat up a lot of power. It is best to always have a replaceable battery at hand in case you forget to recharge for some reason.
  • As in any type of computer, its memory plays a huge role in its overall performance. When selecting a tablet PC, make sure that it has a memory of at least 2GB. If you can get more, so much the better. More powerful processors can allow you to customize the memory to up to 8GB.
  • Your processor specifications depend a lot on your choice for a tablet PC. Select a processor that can meet your specific needs and opt for a convertible type because it offers more options when it comes to processors.
  • Be sure your tablet PC can provide you with the best connectivity. It should include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port, and Video Output Port, which are generally included on regular laptops.
The idea behind the creation of the Tablet PC is focused more on technology and style that today’s generation always looks for. It is quite simple to use as long as you have the basic know how of the computer. If you can afford it, you may find this particular device to be a handy and useful item for everyday use.
